School Visits

**Refer me to a colleague. If it results in a school visit then your school gets a copy of my book for the library!**

I charge $200 for a half day visit and $350 for a full day visit. I will also have books on hand the day of the visit to fulfill purchase requests. I will distribute promotional items with my visit, including bookmarks and jump ropes.

If your school participates in jump rope programs such as Jump Rope for Heart, please try to connect my visit with that program date.

Materials

An easel or chalkboard, marker or chalk, open space for jumping rope, place to set up my display table.

Program

The book is tailored for readers ages 9-14. Therefore, I would like to open my visit up to grades 3-6. I prefer to meet individual classes or by grade level for approximately :45 – 1:00.

I will begin with an introduction followed by a reading excerpt, which will amount to a selected chapter from the book.

I would then like the children to have a chance to ask questions regarding the story or author craft.

I will then invite children to jump rope! Using several of the classic rhymes from the book we can chant and sing together while participants turn and jump, perhaps trying out some of the moves in the book. Likewise, I would like to compose a group chant together that can be shared and jumped to. After all, this is what I had to do in making up chants for my character.
