The activities attached to
each document can be printed and used in connection with a small or whole group
literature unit of study with Racing the Rope. For each
chapter I have included a suggested list of activities that ask children to use
a variety of skills across the curriculum and that will help them reflect, draw
conclusions, learn author craft, use a literature response journal, conduct
research, think about new words, ask questions, visualize, make connections
etc.
Use the activities as you
wish. Don’t forget to recommend Racing the Rope to your fellow
colleagues as a possible literature unit in their fifth/sixth grade classroom.
